Powell Residence

Edward Lee Powell was born in August, 1832 in County Cork, Ireland. His wife, Johanna Hennessy, was born in May, 1832, also in Cork. They arrived in Chicago around 1852 and lived first on Jefferson Street at Des Plaines (400 block of S. Jefferson), then in 1854 on Polk Street between Halsted and Des Plaines (700 block of W. Polk). By 1857, they lived at 310 Halsted, which is now 727 S. Halsted.

Edward died in August, 1909 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Evanston IL. Johanna died in October, 1906 and is also buried at Calvary.
