The first Chicago-area cemetery founded with a nondiscrimination clause in its charter, Mount Glenwood Memory Gardens is the site of the burial of Elijah Muhammad (born Elijah Robert Poole), who headed the Nation of Islam from 1934 until his death in 1975.
