The Mosque Foundation of Chicago opened the first mosque in Chicago in 1956. Previous to 1956, there were only gatherings in local Muslims' homes. There was also the famous mosque at the Columbian World Fair, but this was created as an exhibit, not as an active house of worship.
The name of this mosque on Stewart Ave was not recorded in the sources, and nor did local memory provide it.
