Photograph of a street scene on a wet night in Chicago. Buses and cars are on the road, driving under brightly-lit billboards. One billboard features "Sawyer's Baker Boy crackers." On others, the words "Hunter," "Emerson" and "Leaf" are visible. The Allerton Hotel can be seen the the distance, as can part of the sign for the Hotel Eastgate. Check here for more photographs of this area.

This image is part of the Newberry digital collection Daily Life Along the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. The CB&Q archives at the Newberry (ca. 5,000 cubic feet) mainly document the nineteenth century operations of the Burlington and its component roads. It is open to researchers.
