George Macawley was born in Ireland in January of 1825. He was married to Charlotte Eakin who was born in Ireland on 18 February 1827. The family settled in Chicago around 1857. By 1866, they lived on Wisconsin between Sedgeick and Franklin (now Lincoln Park West). George died on 24 November 1909 and Charlotte on 28 November 1912. They are both buried in Graceland Cemetery in Chicago.
