Johann Christian Hagner was born 1 July 1843 in Neckargartach, Wuerttemburg, Germany. He married Fredericke Batzner (born 1844 in Germany) in 1865. Johann and Fredericke settled in Chicago in 1869 and by 1870 the family was living at 103 Clybourn (now Clybourn and Mohawk).
Johann died 23 March 1880 and Fredericke died on 13 January 1886. They are both buried in Graceland Cemetery in Chicago.
