Conceived in 1903; groundbreaking in 1912; main hall completion (and first services began) in 1922; final dedication in 1953.

The Bahá'í House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois, is the oldest surviving Baha'i House of Worship in the world, and the only one in the United States. Both the national congregation and the Chicago House of Worship have archives of membership.
