Death of Gunder Freevol

Gunder Freevol died at his home (1030 North Mason) on January 9, 1918.  The family story passed down is that a record snow hit the week of Gunder's death.  As a result of the deep snow the body/coffin had to be carried by hand down the back alley north to Division where the funeral carraige was able to pick up the body/coffin for burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery on Narragansett, Gunder's final resting place.  Newspaper weather reports confirm severe snow storm that week.
