Jan Baptist Pletzer was born 25 May 1826 in Bohemia. On 7 February 1859 he married Anna Hancner in Sobeslav, Bohemia, where she had been born 28 July 1834.
The Pletzers settled in Chicago by 1865 and were living at 47 Harrison (now Harrison between State and Wabash) in 1866. Jan died on 24 June 1880 and Ann on 16 November 1904. They are both buried in St. Adelbert Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.
