This is the only year (1897) that we are sure Edward was at this address. While at this address Edward wrote a long poem to King Oscar of Sweden in honor of Oscar's 25 year reign and Jubilee. It was titled "For King and Fatherland" A heartfelt and reverent tribute by Scandia's Sons in the new world. He sent it to Sweden along with two letters all of which have been verified. He wrote all in Swedish and the poem has been translated. He was a member of the American Society of Swedish Engineers and had many patents. He had a business at this address this year called Edward Barrath & Co. Architects & Mechanical Engineers. The previous address of which was 5640 Sangamon Street.
